Saraki Becomes New Senate President, Ekweremadu Elected Deputy
Senator Bukola Saraki, ex-governor Kwara State governor and senator representing Kwara Central, has been elected as the new President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senator Ahmed Lawan(Borno), who emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was not nominated.
Saraki (APC-Kwara Central) was elected unopposed by 57 of 108 Senators, with 51 Senators missing, Lawan among them.
The other senators were at the International Conference Centre at the time Saraki was declared President.

TIME: Francis, what sold you on Catching Fire? What made you want to make this movie?
Francis Lawrence: The stories in general I loved. The theme and the idea of the consequence of war and what that does to people and how people are affected by war and by violence.
